Cohesive documentation on Photo and Video
It has been a whirlwind since we begun offering film photography along with our 16mm or Super 8 wedding highlight videos. I'm sure you have seen Kortney's bridals at Studio 717 floating around on the blog, and that was just the beginning.
Meeting up again for their wedding day at Forever 5 Events, a family owned wedding venue that marries the beauty of modernity with Texas native landscapes, we had the honor of being true flies on the wall of her sacred day. In an era soaked with "content creation" we just wanted to craft her a time capsule of memories that would serve to be pieces of her families story.
An Intimate Ceremony
Kortney and Brady chose to have their ceremony location at the base of a cross where a weeping willow tree hangs over the couple and any on lookers. Although it was warmer in the Texas sun, the natural vines that climb the arches above provided shade as family and friends watch them exchange vows.
Texas Summer Wedding
The colors of the sun rays and the accompanying floral bouquet's popped on film. The bridesmaid chose complimentary mix and match for their dress colors with the overall fabric of satin feeling like an elegant shine on a bright day.
Reception Hall among the Cicadas
Forever 5 Events has an adjacent reception hall that is stacked with floor-to-ceiling windows and wooden accents met by the charm of a mid century modern architecture. With an open floor guest chatting across tables and with their dinner mates as they watched Kortney and Brady take part of cake cutting, their first dance, and other activities.
Sneaking Off for Romantics
Kortney and Brady wanted to spend the bulk of their wedding day with the people who had walked with them and witnessed their love, so it came as no shocker when they opted to ditch the "flash photos" most do when the sun goes down. (Gasp! Yes! Only do what you want on your wedding day!)
What made more sense for them was to carve out some space during the reception to show their devotion to one another in a way similar to that of Jesus in the new testament; by washing one another's feet.
It's a profound but simple gesture which really boils down to serving one another above themselves. We will always document the day, whether that's on film, digital, or Super 8mm, but in these moments we also like to step out a few minutes and let couples just be human without a camera constantly on them.
